Good Day Edmonton!
I have to apologize… I’ve fallen off the proverbial wagon so to speak. It’s been so busy here at Inspired that I have honestly gotten far behind in my online activities. It’s my intent to write something mind-numbingly funny at least once a week ;)
SO much has been happening here in the gorgeous Capital Region; talk of a new arts centre downtown, several new towers either underway or being planned and of course ongoing activities around the possibility of a new home for the Edmonton Oilers. What a great place to live and play!
Here at Inspired SO much has been happening! We have fully taken on the Hardware Gallery’s line of decorative hardware and now here in our own gorgeous Studio we have INSPIRED HARDWARE. Come in an check it out! We carry everything from door handles, locksets, drawer pulls to house numbers and mailboxes. As the business grows, so will our lineup. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any inquiries about any decorative hardware.
ALSO.. there is no doubt that you have heard of, seen it on a newstand and likely picked up a copy of the locally based magazine called Phabrik. We are so pleased to announce that Alana Gannon Schilf, owner of Inspired Home Interiors is now the Design Editor at Phabrik! Alana will be sharing all sorts of great design ideas, tips on how to make the most of your space and letting us all know what is on forefront of design.
One last comment.. sign up for our BE Inspired! Newsletter which will be launched the 2nd week of March 2012.
Thanks as always for reading and we look forward to seeing you here in our Studio one day soon.
I know… I know… we’re not an architectural firm or organization.. but that won’t stop me from talking about my love of architecture! ;)
There’s a great organization called Apartment Therapy that often promotes very cool architecture and design… spaces ranging from tiny little lofts to amazing, intricate structures. Our clients are always sending us and showing us things they love. This link was sent to us by one of our clients who shares a passion for architecture and design and so I thought I would share it with you here! Check out this modern Flatiron building that the folks at Apartment Therapy have featured!
Edmonton has so many beautiful structures both old and new! What is your favourite? What structure that you have seen on your travels would you like to share?!
Let me know and I’d love to feature it here!
have a great blustery weekend and if you’re out and about… come in, see the tonnes of new items we have in our Studio and as always.. BE Inspired!
With this recent snowfall and cold weather snap, it CERTAINLY is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I hope everyone is enjoying the winter weather and taking care of what likely is the beginning of a very busy season for us all. I wanted to write about a couple of things that are going on here at our very warm and cozy Studio in Edmonton’s own Design District!
First off… I have gotten some amazing feedback from our clients about our website. It is continually changing to suit your needs. PLEASE… keep sending me feedback because I do honestly take it all under consideration and institute as many of your ideas as I can. As part of our appreciation for you spending your time to help us out, when you send me a note I will enter your name to win a $100 Gift Certificate from Inspired Home Interiors.
Secondly… We are changing a few things about how we reward our very loyal client base. Please sign up for our newsletter to receive the information from us as we launch our new client appreciation plan. I suspect that over the next few months you’re going to be very happy with what you see and hear is going on at Inspired!
Finally… stay tuned to our new advertising package. We’ll continue working with the folks we have for the last 11 years, but you’re going to see Inspired showing up at some unlikely places. Kind of like a “Where’s Waldo” situation, when you can name where you have seen our advertisements and articles, we plan to reward you!
Thank you as always for reading and enjoy the day! Stay warm, stay safe and as always…

Lofts dowtown as well as Feel free to drop in and talk with us about what our experience has been and what we can do for you!
It’s been a busy week with several meetings with representatives from suppliers who are all preparing for the show at High Point as well as meetings with advertisers. Looking forward to Turkey Day and a couple of days and R&R so we’re ready for the super busy pre-Christmas blitz.
One of the things that I love about Edmonton is the number of the hidden architectural gems we have scattered throughout the City. Whether it’s been designed by an undiscovered local architect, a world famous one or even one of the designers with the City itself you can literally spend a day driving through the gorgeous Capital Region spotting them here and there. I have several places that I enjoy and wish that more people realized the value that they bring to our streetscapes.
Many of you know my favourite is likely the Peter Hemingway Swimming Pool. Not only is the building itself striking, the way it lies in its surrounding landscape is quite honestly inspiring. Also.. right along Stony Plain Road there is an EPCOR substation.. floor to ceiling glass walls with a flat roof. I only wish EPCOR would remove the window decals and once again reveal the inner workings through the expanse of glass!
What are your favourites? What do you think is an undiscovered gem? Send us your thoughts and a photo as well & I’d love to post them here!
Another note worth mentioning… although our City makes some silly mistakes by allowing great, beautiful structures to succumb to the wrecking ball, we are getting better. More thought is being put into building design to ensure that not only is a building functional, but that it performs well with its surroundings throughout the year.
Off my soapbox now ;)
Have a great day Edmonton and thanks for checking us out!
